MONDAY

Meets throughout the semester except school holidays. 9:30-10:45am. Led by Noelle Smith and Chase Holtzclaw. Room 211. Starts Sept 9.

Young Professionals Bible Study - An authentic midweek small group gathering for ages 22-35 who are not yet married. 7:30pm.  Led by Michael Blair. Meets at The Porch.  Starts Aug 12. Email Cole@fbccumming.org for more info.

TUESDAY

The Heart of the Father: Psalms of Praise and Lament - Do you long to know your Heavenly Father as He intends you to know Him?  Well, He has poured out His heart through His servants, the psalmists.  Hebrew poetry shows us the heart of God as no other Holy Scriptures do.  Come listen to the heartbeat of the Father and let your life be His music to the world which so desperately needs to hear the sound of His Words.  You are His symphony!  Along the way, you will also be trained to read and study the Bible for yourself.  About 15 weeks. Led by Becky Smith. Room 322. Starts Aug 13.

Praying with Paul - Every Christian finds it difficult to pray at times. This should not surprise or discourage us. God does not demand hectic church programs and frenetic schedules; He only wants His people to know Him more intimately. The apostle Paul found the kind of spiritual closeness in his own fellowship with the Father that is available to all of us.  We’ll be in Paul’s "school of prayer," reading his letters and learning: the priorities of prayer, a God-centered framework for prayer, and keys to a more meaningful and dynamic prayer life. Christians today can still achieve the confidence Paul enjoyed and a deeper experience by following his life-shaping principles. 8 Weeks. Led by Kathie Pettit. Room 208. Starts Sept 10.

Psalm 23: The Shepherd with Me - Many women know Psalm 23 by heart but haven't experienced its power in their lives. This beloved Psalm can breathe new life into women who are weary, fearful, or unsure of their next steps. It's more than a psalm that comforts in death; it gives confidence in life. Gain fresh insight and encouragement as we explore the depths of God's compassionate care. Learn how your vulnerability is not a liability because you can trust the Shepherd's goodness throughout each season of life. 7-8 weeks. Led by Edna Bridges.  Room 206. Starts Sept 10.

Women of the Word - We all know it's important to study God's Word. But sometimes it's hard to know where to start. What's more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible? Offering a clear and concise plan to help women go deeper in their study of Scripture, this book will equip you to engage God's Word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart. 6-7 weeks. Led by Heather Otwell. Room 211. Starts Sept 10.

For Anyone:

Talking Faith with Catholic Friends: The Most Important Things to Say and Know. Curious about what Roman Catholicism teaches compared to Scripture?  Want to be able to witness to Roman Catholics?  This class is a Biblical comparison of Roman Catholicism to Scripture to enable the believer to witness to Roman Catholics.  Topics include: Scripture or Tradition?  Is the papacy biblical?  Do Roman Catholics worship Mary?  How to witness to a Roman Catholic.  8-10 weeks depending on discussion. Led by Jim Andrews.  Room 209. *Room number may be subject to change based on class size. Starts Sept 4.

Faith Essentials - Whenever we begin the Christian life, we need some direction.  Too often new believers are left to figure it out on our own.  As a result, some Christians may even have been believers for many years, but still feel as though nobody has ever given them some of the most basic instructions for living the victorious Christian life.  Whether you’re a new believer or you’re just wanting to get back to the basics, this class will help you build a solid faith foundation.  6-8 weeks. Led by Rick Kuter and Cole Wilkins. Room 215.  Starts Sept 11.

Room 322. Meets at 6:15pm. Starts Aug 14.

Paul’s Letters to the Churches (Romans – 2 Thessalonians) - As the Church began to grow, Paul provided “water and sunlight” through his letters. Specific churches received instruction, comfort, conviction, and encouragement from Paul, who wrote mainly from prison while he continued God’s mission on earth. Reflect on the humble beginnings of the body of Christ, and let these sacred words deepen your walk with Jesus.  God’s word is amazing and this class will grow both your love and understanding of God’s word. This truly unique Bible Study allows both seasoned Bible students as well as those new to scripture to comfortably journey through God’s word. 10 weeks. Led by Rachel & Ryan Yastro.  Room 321A.  Starts Aug 28.

Pastor’s Bible Study - Learn to study and grow as you journey through the Bible chapter by chapter in John’s Gospel with our very own pastor Dr. Bob Jolly and staff.  Includes a brief time of prayer for needs within the life of the church.  Newcomers welcome in any session. Meets entire semester. Room 208. Starts Aug 14.

For Men:

“Bro Grow” Men’s Hangout - Come hang with a fun group of guys who will encourage you to be the husband, father, and leader God has called you to be.  As we meet and talk, you will be strengthened in your faith, friendships, family, and focus. This laid back group of guys will welcome you as you are; but will also challenge you to kill excuses and grow, bro!  8-10 weeks.  Led by James Atkinson.  Room 211.  Starts Sept 4.

For Women:

Knowing Him  - Study God’s word alongside other women. This fall we will discover our identity in Christ and the lies the enemy tries to tell us as we journey through Ephesians and Colossians.  About 10 weeks. Led by Karen Isbell. Room 323.  Starts Aug 28.

10 Women of the Bible - We don’t even know all their names. Some are referred to only by their nationality or place where they lived. Some became queens, while others lived on the fringes of society. One gave birth to a nation, and one gave birth to the Messiah. Their culture often overlooked them, yet the writers of Scripture found these women and the role they played remarkable to the telling of God's story. This Max Lucado study tells the stories of 10 pivotal biblical women, sharing insights that explore their lives - and helping you apply the lessons to yours. They lived in a different world than our own, but we find ourselves facing the same issues. These women show us there is a God who sees us where we are and loves us for who we are. He is the one who hovers over all the pages of the Bible, shaping lives, rescuing hearts, healing sicknesses, raising what was dead to life, and assigning high callings to those who choose to trust and follow him.  10 weeks.  Led by Lynne Crump. Pre-reading encouraged. Email uwgbmom13@sbcglobal.net for details. Room 325.  Starts Sept 4.

For Young Couples:

Young Pros Couples Bible Study - Young couples (with or without children) are invited to join us as we study the Bible as see how it transforms all of life, marriage, home, and work.  About 12 weeks.  Multiple leaders.  Meets at “The Porch” (Building “C” on backside of campus). Starts Sept 11.
